Wearable structure!
Week 10, 11 ect
My final peice, I have decided to do deconstruction to reconstruction.
I have stuck with using a tailored blazer but wanted to make it more funky by adding ties, if I had to name my peice I would name it something like 'Grandads sunday suit' because it remind me of his awful ties and blazer.
When pinned together!

Bodice Pattern and Draping.
Week 9
We crated a bodice block and then create different creative peices with draping ontop of the bodice.
1) Press Calico
2) Cut calico cut 60x40cm
3) Top to bottom fold 2.5cm in to have a straight finish (seam allowence) then press it flat from the marked bust line from top 20cm measured downwards. Pin the middle and also the side seam.
4) Leave 1cm gap for neck lines pin then cut off excess fabric.
5) Cut bottom of the bodice to fit the mannequin perfectly.
6) Then do the same process for the back panels.
7) Experiment draping ontop of the bodice.
Also abit more draping using lighter fabric, prefer this effect.

RECYCLED FASHION & GARY HARVEY
After doing the deconstruction to reconstruction I thought about how we could recycle so many of our clothes and re-make them into something amazing.
I looked at Gary Harvey last year and couldnt get him out of my mind whilst doing this project.
He uses newspaper, crisp packets, used jeans and many different things to create masterpieces!

DECONSTRUCTION AND RECONSTRUCTION
Week 6 & 7
My favourite tutorial of the lot! The excercise was to unpick a tailored jacket and re-create it into something wierd, wonderful and wearable. This gave me many different design ideas and thought of all the different types of garments I could deconstruct and reconstruct to make some new amazing pieces.

ANNET COUWENBERG
When I saw her work in 'contemporary textiles' it reminded me of our tailored deconstruction jacket exercise and the paper pleating. An amazingly simple piece which I am sure took hours and hours of work to create! The work looks so light and easy yet its so structured and hard to make.
ESTER CELLUCI
I love this dress, made of Tuscany wool it looks formal yet out there and amazingly structured and flattering.
SEAMUS McGUINNESS
2 Of my biggest interests in life are fine art and fashion. Seamus McGuinness work is the finest of both. When I discovered his work I fell in love straight away. His work has been described as 'ephemeral, spiritual with themes of absence and presence'
GLUE & CLOTH
WEEK 4 & 5
GLUE & CLOTH
We used cloth, tights, chairs, cling film and glue to create a sculptural object.
When happy with our sculpture we covered it in PVA so it hardened.
We then took off our structureto create and 'unstructured structure'
We took the peice off the chairs and put it onto a manequin to create something wearable, testing many different distorted gharments.

ISSEY MIYAKE
Issey Miyake's '1325' line was amazing, he invented foldable dress's that can be flattened into 2 dimensional form using pc software that generates intricate three dimensional shapes from flat paper! This really reminded me of our rule based art tutorial.
GARETH PUGH & MCQUEEN
I LOVE Gareth Pugh
His designs are hugely inspiring especially when working within rule based art and remind me of japenesse origami!
Also i love McQueens dress's he has designed for Lady Gaga herself!
I love how the dress's have structure yet are really feminime.

Making a pattern on the stand -
The aim of this task was to create a pattern using an actual figure.
We started by taping pattern paper onto our stand, then we added style lines and notches.
We then cut our style lines added seam allowence and then created our garment in toile version.
